Helical Gear Options
The most popular helical gear design is 45 degrees. Helical cut gears can have a right-hand or a left-hand gear helix. When 45° helical gears of the opposite hand operate together, they will turn parallel shafts in opposite rotations. Helical gears of the same hand are used to drive shafts at right angles. Other helix angles can be supplied for parallel shafts. This will decrease the thrust along the axis of the gears.
