Crossed Axis Gearboxes

Cross axis gearboxes, also called helical gear reducers, feature helical cut gear teeth that mesh simultaneously and distribute the load evenly, reducing wear on individual teeth.  The angled teeth also create a smoother transition for reduced noise and vibration, even at high speeds and loads.

Crossed axis helical gearboxes are a common type of gearbox for vehicle and equipment transmissions. These devices use bearings to support the thrust load, enabling them to generate large amounts of thrust. When mounted to perpendicular shafts, helical gearboxes can be used to adjust the rotation angle by 90°. Our reliable, high-performance E Series right angle helical gear boxes are available in numerous sizes and configurations to meet your application requirements. E Series 90-degree crossed helical gears deliver output torque values as high as 62 Nm, with minimal backlash.
 
E Series right angle helical gearboxes (E and EA models) come with a variety of gear ratios (1:1 to 40:1) and input/output shaft sizes, making it easy to find the right model for your needs. All crossed axis gearboxes provide high efficiency (up to 94% at 1,000 RPM) and low backlash (as little as ≤30 arc minutes).
