Tipped Set Screws
While “traditional” set screws are perfect for permanent installations, the circular ridges their tips cause when cutting into the mating shaft can be problematic for applications where the shaft needs to be repositioned or removed. These raised edges can damage the shaft and the component to which it’s attached.
Fortunately, Ondrives.US has the ideal solution. Our tipped set screws are available in nylon or brass half-dog tips or silver solder oval tips. They are specially engineered to hold components in place without damaging shafts or components.
Nylon, Brass or Silver Solder Tipped Set Screws
Nylon Tip Set Screws (NTH Series): The soft nylon tip of these nylon tip set screws compresses on installation, conforming to the shape of the shaft and filling the space between the shaft and threaded hole. They cause no damage to the shaft, making them ideal for unhardened shafts. For best results, our nylon tip set screws should be replaced after each repositioning.
Available in stainless or alloy steel; inch thread sizes from #2-56 to 1/2-13 or M2 to M10.
Brass Tip Set Screws (BT Series): These brass tip set screws can be used on hardened shafts. Installation causes minimal deformation, allowing the brass tip set screws to be reused multiple times.
Available in stainless or alloy steel; inch and metric thread sizes from #2-56 to 1/2-13.
Silver Solder Tip Set Screws (ST Series): Our silver solder tip set screws can be used with hardened shafts. Installation causes little to no deformation, so they can be used and reused many times.
Available in stainless steel; inch and metric thread sizes from #2-56 to 1/2-13 or M2 to M10.
