Feather Keys
Feather Keys are shaft keys that transmit torque from a shaft to a driven component. The design is similar to parallel keys, except these shaft keys have radiused ends. The mating slot in the shaft is machined with an end mill that matches the radius of the feather key design. Once installed, feather keys are contained in the machined pocket and cannot move axially and thus preventing fall out or damage in your machine.
Ondrives.US offers steel and stainless steel feather keys in inch and metric sizes. Our feather keys have the same torque capacity as square or rectangular keys and do not require set screws to hold the key in position. Another benefit of this shaft key design is quick, hassle-free field replacement. Read our Feather Keys White Paper to learn more about the advantages of this shaft key design.
