New Linear Shaft Supports Available Now!

Feather Keys

Steel and stainless steel feather keys are designed and engineered to lower the costs associated with product manufacturing, conceivably providing lower warranty callbacks and customer downtime for maintenance. Flat and parallel feather keyways are used for 1/4” to 2-1/2” diameter shafts while delivering the same torque capacity as square and rectangular parallel keys.  Another benefit of this shaft key design is quick, hassle-free field replacement.  Feather keys are available in steel and stainless steel construction and inch and metric sizes.

What are Feather Keyway Shafts?

Feather Keys are shaft keys that transmit torque from a shaft to a driven component. The feather keyway design is similar to parallel keys, except they are manufactured with radiused ends. The mating slot in the shaft is machined with an end mill that matches the radius of the feather key design. Once installed, feather keys are contained in the machined pocket, they cannot move axially and do not require set screws to hold the key in position. Feather keys cannot fall out of position or cause damage to your machine.

The Ondrives.US Advantage: Feather keyways are better than other keys
